Solar Eclipse Delights and Amazes

The campus community was treated to the experience of the solar eclipse on April 8, with a gathering to view the partial eclipse from the rock garden near the Academic Laboratory and Science  building and a livestream of the total eclipse from Ohio and other locations shown in the campus planetarium. The Physics and Earth Science Departments hosted the viewings and provided eclipse glasses to those who wished to safely observe the partial eclipse appearing in the skies over Connecticut. While the whole event took about two hours, the point of maximum coverage in Connecticut occurred at 3:28 p.m.

A group of intrepid students and faculty from the Physics Department also took advantage of the total solar eclipse in Vermont, driving seven hours to view this celestial event.
